Sheep Dog Trials
The ever popular Sheepdog Trials and Demonstrations have become a permanent part of the Caledonian Club Games at Pleasanton.  See these highly trained Border Collies being put through their paces herding sheep and other farm animals in the Amador Pavilion.

9am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Note: we call these "Trials" and not demonstrations, and you should be aware that there is the same degree of serious competition here as there is in the other events.  The Caledonia Club doesn't give out awards for this event, but the Northern California Working Sheepdog Association, Inc. does and requires entry information more detailed than than required of most of our human competitors.

**The following is quoted from stockdog.com**

Sheepdog or 'Border Collie' trials have been conducted for over 100 years. The first sheep dog trials were held on October 9, 1873 in Bala, Wales. The first trials in the United States started in 1880. The international Sheep dog Society was founded in 1906 to administer sheep dog trials and to register sheep dogs. The societies policy has always been not only to register dogs from registered parents but to register ANY dog that can obtain a sufficiently high standard of work, even to this day dogs that are good enough but of unregistered ancestry are registered as Border Collies by the ISDS."
