Held Labor Day Weekend at the Alameda County Fairgrounds! September 5th and 6th, 2009!
Direct from Royal Duty in the United Kingdom: 1st Battalion Scots Guards
The Scots Guards will be making their only west coast appearance at our 144th Scottish Highland Gathering & Games. . Steeped in history, the Royal Regiment of Scots Guards were formed in 1642 as the personal body guards for the King of England, Charles I. Their colorful and intricate uniforms set them apart from other regiments that also patrol BuckinghamPalace. One of the most anticipated aspects at the games is the marshalling of both the Scots Guards and the U.S. Marine Corps bands in mixed formation, playing simultaneously in concert in front of the grandstands both days of the Games. The Pleasanton venue is one the few in the world that marshals both British and American bands together in concert.
